She further adds,“I knew nothing about the project, Chepang women’s rights and government’s allocation of budget for women. Now I know a lot about women empowerment. I share my learnings with the members of my community; they listen to me. I am very happy to be a part of this project. I love helping the community from the beginning but now I have also learned the techniques and methods of helping them. I know what leadership development is, women empowerment and its importance, gender discrimination, social mobilization and social accountability. The training I received from DEC Nepal has enhanced my capacity and boosted my confidence. One of the important things I learnt during the training and while working for the project is ‘one has to be self-motivated and willing to improve, if onereally wants to improve’.Training of Trainers (ToT) was important turning point of my life. I have used the knowledge gainedfrom TOT training while forming Chepang Women Action Fora (WoCAF) at the village with support of other LRPs and staff of DEC Nepal. We organize WoCAFmeeting twice a month.” In these meetings, membersdiscuss on lower participation of women in decision making and planning process, they identify their problems and try to resolve those on their ownpreparing a plan of action.

Ganga Chepang also participates in several interaction programs at village and district level with local government line agency and other stakeholders. About 3 months ago she was appointed as thecoordinator in education sub-committee of Shree Kimanchuli Women Saving and Credit Cooperative. Besides, she is alsoan executive member in community forest users group of her village. She is also advocating and encouraging other villagers to send their children to school. She says, “I am confident now, I don’t feel hesitant to talk to VDC Secretary and District Development Officer about our problems.” On September 4, 2015,under her leadership, 10 people from Korak VDC visited District Agriculture Office at Bharatpurto register their Women Chepang Action Fora (WoCAF) and to inquire about potential agricultural projectssuitable to their VDC. This is one of the significant changes that can be observed in a few Chepang women with a potential to act as a change agent and be a role model for other women of theircommunity.

["post-638","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
