Reinforcing Women of the Chepang community as change agents for promoting local governance in Nepal
This project has adopted a new approach of including influential males of Chepang Community to encourage and support women’s participation in local governance. These men could play an important role in changing the mindset of their fellow men as well as local government stakeholders regarding the relevance of their female members’ engagement in local development planning process. As such the project has identified 20 influential men in each Village Development Committee (VDC), and 120 in six VDCs. These men are local political leaders, community leaders, religious leaders, government representatives, local media personnel, spouses of Women Chepang Action Fora members, etc. who can play crucial role in changing power dynamics of Chepang women both within household and beyond.
